The launcher reached the CDN. Then the file on disk did not match.

That message is almost never “your GPU is too weak.” It is a transfer, hash, disk, or filter problem. Forum posts from new PCs with gigabit Ethernet look identical to laptop Wi-Fi failures.

Minecraft Launcher failed download state in official client

Repair order

  1. Pause VPN, third-party antivirus shields, and “game boosters.” Windows Firewall exceptions for the launcher are enough to test.
  2. Retry on another network (phone hotspot). If hotspot works, the original network is filtering Mojang/Microsoft CDNs.
  3. In the launcher, switch off the broken installation and let it re-download. If it always dies on the same object, delete that version folder under versions — not the whole .minecraft tree.
  4. Copy saves and screenshots out before any wider reset.
  5. Reinstall the launcher from minecraft.net or Store only after the above. A second installer will not fix a blocked CDN.

What players keep posting

Minecraft Forum threads describe freezes a few hundred KB into a multi-megabyte file, then an error on a sound or library jar. Incompatible overlays and aggressive AV show up in those threads more than “bad RAM.” Treat that as a pattern, not a diagnosis of your PC.
